Tomorrow sees the women’s short boat followed by the rest of the men’s short boat, delayed due to the kites, and then round 1 of the teams start after lunch some time. This year there are more countries with teams than ever before, 12, and the cut is hard. Four countries will see their worlds end tomorrow.

Surf Kayak Championship update
Monday is over competition wise as the pro kites had four hours to finish their event. The good news is with them finished there should be no more interruptions to us.
Today saw the men’s short boat out for the first time and the first few heats were really put to the test. It was high tide for the early heats and it was very big and heavy. Out of the first two heats, six men, four swam! That’s unheard of at any worlds event, most were due to deck implosions and broken paddles and boat fittings but still a hell of a statistic. The tide dropped fast and with it the quality and severity of the wave but the heats kept running and Rob, Brendan, Wayne and Len where all out. Rob put it all on the line in heat two with the super heavy break but the wave that would have won him the heat eat him instead and he’s missed the next round. The other three are all through.
